Paint job $7500, is that rip off?

we recently purchased a home but we were quoted $7500 for repainting of the inside and the outside, this is in southern california. My friends thought it was outrageous and expensive, what do you guys think? I also found another person who was willing to paint for $5300, but I would have to buy the paint whereas the first person who is a professional licensed painter includes the edward dunns paint for repainting the home.
