How do I talk to him? (guys only please!)?

i think this guy is really good-looking and i have never talked to him before. i want to start up a convo, but he is REALLY shy. we are both on the varsity bball teams. i know he has noticed me before so it's not like he doesnt know who i am. any suggestions on how i could approach him?
